ABOUT MZWO

Mount Zion Welfare Organization, Inc (MZWO) was incorporated in 2007 with registration number G. 20965 as a rural focused, non profit, tax exempt non governmental, community grassroots organization by highly vulnerable rural women, youths and Persons With Disability (PWD) groups to promote women human rights. To us at MZWO, Human Rights education means much more than safety, equality, justice, rights and dignity of rural women but also include livelihoods training as well as overcoming the basic needs of life such as provision of portable drinking water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental education. Our extensive findings confirm that economically empowered women are better able to tackle domestic violence and also lead others out of this traumatic problem better than less economically endowed women. Consequently, MZWO will continue to transform the socially and economically disadvantaged women and girls into productive members of society thru entrepreneurship training.

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

MZWO is governed by a seven member, all volunteer free female board that represent the two main areas of our activities--Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, (WASH) and livelihoods development. Human Rights Education is integrated in all our educational programs. Though independent of each other, the two departments operate interdependently. There is a board chair, a vice, general secretary, financial secretary, marketing and public image, legal and projects and general matters. The Projects Director heads the administrative set up, assisted by two other specialist volunteer officers for WASH and livelihoods development who coordinate and oversee projects in their respective areas of specialization.

Operational Excellence

Our goal is therefore to promote Human Rights, sustainable livelihoods and good health.
